"beagles" is Portland-based Michael Todd's latest project. Gentle instrumentation and delicate harmonies swaddle Todd's cooing vocals and his sleepy, dreamlike lyrics paint picturesque pastel scenes bathed in bittersweet light. Through and through, beagles composes incredibly satisfying and soothing indie pop with lovely layers of folk instrumentation, light tambourines, boisterous drum thumps, and bouts of harmonica. Despite the record's fairly brief runtime, it leaves a lasting impression that imprints this album as an essential summer listen. Includes cassette exclusive "my neighbor is a drug dealer (demo)."
